Foundation Training
16 CPD points
Foundation Training Awards are the mandatory prerequisite to further endorsed CPD in the same discipline (see below) and can be developed by an employer in-house or by a private training provider. Foundation Training must map 100% to our standards to ensure an industry benchmark is met, but you have the autonomy to add more contextualised content to the course and assessment – a huge benefit when developing your universal selling point to learners.
PD:Approval will provide each successful learner with a secure Certificate of Achievement, that has a unique certificate number and a QR Code for anti fraud purposes. Registration of learners is mandatory for Foundation Training Awards and only certificates issued by PD:Approval to registered learners (see the Learner Registration tab for more information) will be recognised by REPs Ireland and by the other ICREPs member countries as endorsed continuing professional development (CPD).
You have the choice of endorsing your Foundation Training individually, as a Foundation Pay as You Go (PAYG) endorsement, or through Foundation Unlimited endorsement (Special Populations, Aqua and Strength & Conditioning Foundation Training only) which would enable you to gain endorsement for all your other CPD once you are approved without incurring further submission fees. Both options will provide you with continuing support from a dedicated External Quality Assurer.
An overview of the evidence required for a Foundation Training submission is available
here, however please download the
Foundation Training Endorsement Guide for full information on how to submit your Foundation Training for approval.
Each discipline has a mandatory minimum amount of Guided Learning Hours (GLH), please refer to our guide for how many of these hours need to be face-to-face and practical.
